Imperial Oppression of the Wookiees
There are many in the Empire who have chosen to either ignore or deny what the Empire is doing to the Wookiee people. For many years now the Imperial fleet has blockaded the planet and isolated it from the rest of the galaxy.
With the assistance of a dedicated network of smugglers, the Wookiees continue their struggle for freedom and survival. The images below were recorded by members of the Sons of Kashyyyk, a group of freedom fighters operating on Kashyyyk. They were smuggled to the WCC in hopes that once the citizens of the Empire had seen evidence of our plight they would understand why we oppose Imperial rule of our planet.
Warning: the pictures below are graphic. They can be a bit shocking. But this is the best way we know to demonstrate the truth of what the Empire is doing on Kashyyyk.
A Trandoshan slaver guards a compound where Wookiees are kept before transport to Imperial work camps.
Ships such as this carry kidnapped Wookiees to Imperial facilties throughout the galaxy. Many of these slaves will not survive to see their homeworld again.
Those who resist the Empire are treated harshly. This Wookiee was tortured to death and left outside the slave compound as a warning to the local population.
The slavers leave only pain and suffering in their wake. These Wookiees returned from a hunting trip to find their village in flames and their loved ones taken.
Those who aren't taken are killed. The very old and the very young, deemed as having no value, are often slaughtered by the slavers working for the Empire. These graves stand as reminders of all the lost Wookiees.
Free Kashyyyk! Free the Wookiees!
All we want is to live in peace on our own planet. This is the right of every sentient species. We will not rest until every Wookiee is liberated and Kashyyyk is free of Imperial oppression!
